One Unique Way To End Sibling Fighting – That Makes You Rethink Everything You’ve Tried

One Unique Way To End Sibling Fighting. A Parenting Coach Case Study – When Sibling Fight and what to do.

As an online parenting coach, I see it all the time.

Frazzled, overwhelmed, and desperate for a solution—you just want the fighting to stop.

The constant bickering. The shouting. Even the physical fights. It’s exhausting.

What started as the odd disagreement has now become a daily struggle. You can’t enjoy a simple family outing without it turning into chaos.

On a recent holiday, one mum told me it got so bad they had to split up—each parent taking a child just to keep the peace. The trip was supposed to be fun, but instead, it was filled with stress, tension, and disappointment.

She’d tried everything. (except, not my unique way to end sibling fighting for good!)
Consequences, threats, time-outs. She’d taken things away, talked through the arguments, set rules, implemented charts… and still, the fighting continued.

Nothing worked..

And it wasn’t just the kids who were fighting—it was her, too.

She told me she was shouting every single day.

Losing her temper more than she ever wanted to admit.

By 3pm, she was watching the clock, counting down the hours till bedtime… and then, of course, dealing with bedtimes that dragged on for hours. One more drink. another story. more excuse.

By the time they were finally asleep, she’d collapse in guilt, swearing tomorrow she’d be calmer, more patient… and then the cycle would start all over again.

It wasn’t until we took a step back—zoomed out from the noise and looked at the bigger picture—that everything changed.

One Unique Way To End Sibling Fighting

This One Unique Way To End Sibling Fighting for good. Because this wasn’t really about sibling rivalry.

  • It wasn’t about the other child.

  • It wasn’t even about the fights.

  • It was about a young boy who felt powerless.

And a well-meaning, loving mum who was doing what so many of us do—trying to make everything easier for her kids. Fixing things. Jumping in to help. Doing the little things that (we believe) show love.

But here’s the truth: when we do too much for our children, they don’t feel loved—they feel incapable.

  • They start to believe that they can’t.

  • They feel small.

  • They crave a sense of control, of agency, of power in their own lives—and when they don’t get that in healthy ways, they’ll find any way to meet that need.

That’s what this boy was doing. Not consciously, of course. He wasn’t thinking, “Hmm, I feel powerless—guess I’ll pick a fight with my sister.”

But behavior is always communication.

He was trying to feel powerful in the only way he knew how: by controlling someone smaller than him.

So we stopped focusing on the fighting. We stopped reacting to the symptoms. We focused on a unique way to end sibling fighting.

And we started focusing on helping him feel capable.

  • He started making his own breakfast.
  • Cleaning up after dinner.
  • Choosing his clothes and planning parts of his day.
  • Helping with decisions around the house.
  • All without forcing him to…

And do you know what happened?

The fighting stopped.

No charts. Without shouting or separating. Just real change—because we got to the root of it.

This is the difference that happens when we stop asking, “How do I get my kids to stop fighting?” and start asking, “Why is this behavior happening in the first place?”

One Unique Way To End Sibling Fighting.

When we shift from managing behaviour to understanding it, everything changes—quickly.

Parents often come to me stuck in the cycle of control, consequence, repeat.

They’re not doing anything wrong—they’re doing what they were told to do. But it’s exhausting. And ineffective.

Because behavior is the tip of the iceberg. When we only focus on what we can see, we miss what’s driving it underneath.

One Unique Way To End Sibling Fighting.

That’s where I come in.  I help parents decode the behaviour, understand the need behind it, and create shifts that last.

This mum went from feeling defeated and overwhelmed… to empowered and confident.
The holiday may have been ruined, but the story didn’t end there.

It took just a few weeks of working together. No gimmicks. No scripts. Just a deeper understanding of her child, and the tools to meet his real needs.

If you’re in the thick of it—fighting, tantrums, defiance—and none of the “usual stuff” is working, it’s not because you’re doing it wrong.
It’s because you’re trying to fix the what, not the why.

  • And once you see the root…
  • The change is not only possible—
  • It’s fast.

What other parents are saying after working with me:

“Camilla was the answer to our prayers. I am endlessly grateful to her and only wish I’d found her sooner.” Louisa, Mum of 2

“Camilla coached us through different methods. Methods which I had never thought about, but gave us incredible results in a very short space of time, methods which we still use now and are so easy to implement on a daily basis. I am no longer the shouty mum I used to be. And my relationship with my kids has changed so much, I often wonder why I hadn’t started this journey sooner.’ Lucy, Mum of 3

“I was stuck in a pretty unpleasant vicious circle, with three awesome small children and was ruining it. I was afraid they would grow up and not trust me. Within the first couple of weeks working with Camilla I saw positive changes.” Claire, Mum of 3
